Tosa Farmers Market Returns to Wauwatosa Village for 16th Market Season on June 7
Wauwatosa, WI – June 2 – The Tosa Farmers Market is returning for its sixteenth season on Saturday, June 7 from 8 a.m. to noon in its longtime home in the Hart Mills Parking Lot by the Little Red Store. The season continues through Saturday, October 11. The family-friendly market will feature a rotating list of more than 50 local vendors offering fresh produce and prepared goods, as well as live music, outdoor yoga, kids programs and more. On the first Saturday of each month, the Tosa Farmers Market will host its monthly makers market in a connected space across the nearby bridge, featuring a collection of uniquely crafted items from local artisans. The market also hosted a bonus “sneak peek” market on Saturday, May 31, which featured a selection of both food producers and makers.
In addition to shopping with local farmers and makers, the community can enjoy a variety of activities, including:
- Power of Produce (PoP) Club: When children ages 5-12 stop by the Info Booth, they can receive $2 in tokens to spend on fruits, vegetables, and food-bearing plants. This free program helps teach children about where food comes from. This program runs on the generosity of Firefly Real Estate, presenting sponsor of the market.
- Outdoor Yoga: Inner Light Yoga hosts Yoga at the Market across the bridge to Hart Park from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. No registration is required.
- Live Music: Each week, the market hosts local musicians and artists who offer the perfect soundtrack to enjoy shopping, coffee, food and time with loved ones. Market music is sponsored by Black Shoe Hospitality and Valentine Coffee Roasters.
- Community Booth: Each week, a local nonprofit or community organization shares their mission and how to get involved at the community booth.
In its ongoing commitment to creating a more sustainable community, the market is introducing a handful of engaging activities, including seed library kits and coffee composting, on select Saturdays this summer.
[inarticled]When customers support the market, they’re giving back too! Each week, Tosa Farmers Market vendors generously fill bins with their unsold product, resulting in thousands of pounds of food being donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Wisconsin. This food is used to make convenient to-go meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
The market is made possible through the generous support of local businesses, including presenting sponsor Firefly Real Estate.
