The United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee’s Return to Kadish Park for Walk for Wellness 2022
For the first time since 2019, the eight (8) members of the United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee> (UNCOM) will return to Kadish Park for its annual Walk for Wellness on Thursday, July 28 from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm. The members of the UNCOM collaborative are City on a Hill, COA Youth & Family Centers, Journey House, Milwaukee Christian Center, Neighborhood House of Milwaukee, Neu-Life Community Development, Northcott Neighborhood Center and Silver Spring Neighborhood Center.
“We expect over 650 youth ages 5-17 from centers all across the City to walk in solidarity after we pledge to care for our minds and bodies,” says Chee Thao, UNCOM Director of Programs. “The Walk for Wellness event allows us another opportunity to model eating a healthy meal, being physically active and thinking positively.” This aligns closely with the City of Milwaukee’s Safer City MKE initiative which UNCOM is a lead partner in facilitating.Youth will enjoy fun activities after they conclude their walk, including yoga, creating mindfulness bottles, playing kickball, having fun at the Tik Tok creation station as well as getting a healthy lunch. The Figureheads will be on hand to provide entertainment while interacting with Milwaukee’s youth.
This event is made possible with the support of Bader Philanthropies, Froedert & Medical College of Wisconsin, the Salvation Army, PNC Bank, Century Springs and Dunn’s Sporting Goods.
