MILWAUKEE, WI (February 25, 2020) – The Gathering is a local nonprofit that provides nearly 90,000 free meals a year to the hungry and homeless population. On Friday, February 28th at 8 AM, The Gathering will be celebrating the completion of its Move for Hunger Campaign. The morning will kick-off with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a meal, provided by POP’s BBQ, and fellowship.

“We wouldn’t have been able to complete The Move for Hunger Campaign without our generous donors and hardworking staff and volunteers,” says Lyn Hildenbrand, Executive Director of The Gathering. “Our meal guests notice it now, more than ever; The Gathering is a place for community to come together for not only a meal, but for fellowship. Our new space allows this to take place. We finally feel like we’re home.”

The Gathering moved into Running Rebels on August 30, 2019. Over the past several months, the organization has been undergoing many changes including kitchen renovations and a logo redesign. The Gathering is eager to welcome major donors, partners, board members, volunteers and community members to this event. Local government officials will be attending the event in addition to the founders of Running Rebels.

“We are absolutely honored to have The Gathering as a partner at our Fond du Lac location,” says Dawn Barnett, Co-Executive Director at Running Rebels. “They serve the community with such an abundance of love, compassion and dignity.  For us, it was obvious at our very first meeting with The Gathering that their mission and spirit made them a perfect fit for our space.”

With support from Mayor Barrett, Alderman Stamper, POP’s BBQ, staff and volunteers the grand opening of The Gathering at Running Rebels will make this leap year a one-of-a-kind.
