MILWAUKEE [January 17, 2024] – The Charles Allis Art Museum invites the public to join us for a special “End of Year Community Gathering” on Thursday, Dec. 19, from 5 to 8 p.m., as we celebrate the museum’s future and unveil our newest exhibition: “Everyday Elegance: Finding Beauty in the Ordinary.”

Since 2012, the Charles Allis and Villa Terrace Art Museums have been staffed and operated by Charles Allis & Villa Terrace Museums, Inc. (CAVT), while Milwaukee County has provided building maintenance, capital, and operations support. Facing persistent budget pressures, Milwaukee County has sought long-term solutions to reduce and eliminate funding dependency. With the successful transition of the Villa Terrace Museum, CAVT will now pivot dedicating it’s undivided energy to preserving and revitalizing the Charles Allis Art Museum as a cornerstone of Milwaukee’s vibrant cultural landscape. The Allis has a steady pulse, these last few years we have watched attendance grow with exhibitions and programming that has resonated with our community; these changes provide a launching pad to further build on our successes and let more of Milwaukee fall in love with this unique gem.

About the Event

This community-focused evening will serve as both a festive year-end celebration and an opportunity to explore the museum’s newest exhibition, “Everyday Elegance.” Set in The Great Hall, this stunning community painting exhibition showcases local artists’ interpretations of beauty found in everyday objects and moments.

  • A cash bar with festive drinks alongside complimentary wine, beer, and light snacks.
  • Music by DJ Gemini Gilly, creating an upbeat and celebratory atmosphere.
