CEDARBURG –  Cedarburg Art Museum’s tenth juried exhibition, The Life of Water, opens on Saturday, May 25 and will be on display through Sunday, August 18.  In keeping with the Museum’s mission to showcase, collect, and preserve the art of its immediate area and of that of outstanding Wisconsin artists, this exhibition was limited to submissions by Wisconsin artists. A record number of artists entered art in a great variety of mediums to be juried by professional artist Christine Buth-Furness. Fifty-seven accepted artists have interpreted our earth’s most vital natural resource that comes in various forms of liquid, solid, and vapor and covers 71% of earth’s surface. The reception for this exhibition is open to the public on June 1, 2 – 4pm.

On June 1 at 3pm, assuming no liquid or solid presence of water prevails in the atmosphere at that time, awards will be announced and distributed to artists on the Museum’s courtyard and sculpture garden. In the case of precipitation, the ceremony will be held indoors. Artists from Ozaukee in the exhibition include Emily Barelmann, Erin Callahan Blum, Lois Buley-Wirth, Cherie Burbach, Christine Christon, Vince Condella, Patrick Doughman, Karen Gunderman, Marta Gwizdala, Patrice Herbst, Micki High, Guntis Lauzems, Reilly McClellan, Janann Miller, Deb Mortl, Jack Pachuta, Hal Rammel, Vicki Reed, Renee Schreiner, Andrea Simon, Jerry Steingraeber, Alice Struck, Fred Thorne, and Bunnie Werth.

Regular museum hours are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 10am – 4pm, and Sunday, 12 – 4pm.  The Cedarburg Art Museum at W63N675 Washington Avenue is in the historic Jochem-Wittenberg mansion. The Life of Water exhibition is on the second floor of the Museum and due to the historic nature of the 1898 building is accessible by stairway only.
