Suspect and vehicle occupant shot near 85th & Concordia

Statement of Alderman Jim Bohl - January 9, 2018

By - Jan 9th, 2018 11:43 am

Police officers from Wauwatosa chased a vehicle into the City of Milwaukee early this morning until it was stopped near N. 85th St. and W. Concordia Ave. in the 5th District. There was a shootout when one of the vehicle’s occupants opened fire on the Wauwatosa officers, and when the incident ended a 23-year-old man from Milwaukee’s north side and a 19-year-old woman who was also in the fleeing vehicle were wounded.

Both are alive and in police custody.

The fleeing vehicle reportedly disobeyed stop signs and sped very close to pedestrians during the chase. I am glad that no neighborhood residents or officers were injured in this violent encounter, and it just illustrates how quickly events that begin outside the district and the city can quickly end up impacting our normally quiet neighborhoods.

I commend Wauwatosa police for their efforts in this harrowing incident.
