Supervisor Vincent Calls for Unity as Milwaukee is Selected to Host 2024 Republican National Convention

MILWAUKEE – On Friday, August 5, Republicans unanimously voted to select Milwaukee to host its 2024 national convention. County Supervisor Kathleen Vincent issued the following statement calling for a renewed sense of unity between Democrats and Republicans.

“Any major event choosing Milwaukee, is a huge win for the County. The convention choice itself has already kept Milwaukee in the news as a viable tourist attraction,” said Supervisor Vincent. “When I think about the sales tax dollars coming into our county, the money being spent in hotels, at restaurants, and the tips going directly into servers’ pockets, I can’t help but celebrate the Republican National Convention coming to Milwaukee. I encourage everyone to welcome our visitors with open arms as they stimulate economic activity in our hometown. As a representative of Milwaukee County I look forward to the increase in patronage at our museums, parks, and other county attractions.”

VISIT Milwaukee estimated an additional $23.2 million in hotel revenue as a result of the convention.

A study by the Center for Economic Development at Cleveland State University estimated that the Republican National Convention held in Cleveland in 2016 was responsible for an additional $16.9 million in tax revenue.

Supervisor Vincent joined notable Democrats Mayor Cavalier Johnson, and County Executive David Crowley who have voiced their support of Milwaukee hosting the convention.

Money money money? Please. There’s a good chance all these grifters won’t even pay their bill’s. Fill up the city with criminals and liars, what could go wrong? Not too psyched about the Proud Boys and white supremacists seeing Milwaukee as a tourist destination. That’s probably not going to end well.

  2. tornado75 says:

i think we are past this call for unity. i am sorry milwaukee was chosen for the convention.

  3. mkeumkenews09 says:

    Unity – please, let’s get real…

In the past few days at CPAC, U.S. Republican Senators have been calling on their unregulated militias to step up armed attacks against non-Conservatives. They lied, over and over, about the Democrat agenda (yeah, Republicans don’t have an agenda, outside of hate and divisiveness, and whatever “Dear Leader” wants). They hosted an out and out racist (Orban) whose speech on maintaining white ethnic purity, denigrating many, multiple “others” and with recommendations on how to move to an autocracy was cheered and applauded.

Clearly you meant this press release as a joke?

OBTW, Conservatives likely won’t be spending their dollars at Milwaukee venues. They will do their best to not do so.

  4. Jake formerly of the LP says:

Is there any money that the RNC is going to pay so there’s extra security in the City? And are WisGOPs finally going to allow for a city and county sales tax to pay for police and law enforcement?

If not, NO SALE. It’ll be another example of our-of-town GOPs using the resources and amenities of the state’s largest tourism draw, while barely paying anything to the city or county itself.
