Supervisor Burgelis Encourages Young Leaders to Apply for Positions on the Milwaukee County Youth Commission
MILWAUKEE – On Tuesday, September 20, 2022, County Supervisor Peter Burgelis issued the following statement encouraging youth in District 15 to apply for the Milwaukee County Youth Commission.
“I’d like to encourage civic-minded youth in District 15, and across the County to apply for this exciting opportunity,” said Supervisor Burgelis. “The future Milwaukee County Youth Commissioners will advise the County Executive, County Board Chairwoman, and County Supervisors on policy and budget matters, as they advocate for the issues that matter most to them. In addition to building leadership qualities, the position offers them once in a lifetime experiences and networking opportunities. Be a voice for your generation, and your community, apply today!”
County Executive David Crowley and Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson co-authored a resolution in 2022 to re-establish the Milwaukee County Youth Commission. Applications for the first new members in over a decade are being accepted now.
Youth Commissioners will be paid $12.50 an hour and will be tasked with developing a county take-a-child-to-work day, as well as reviewing and advising budget and policy decisions.
Applications for the commission are due by September 30. If you or your child are interested in applying for the commission, click here.
