July 4, 2019 American Family Insurance Amphitheater– Band Information
Megadeth:
It was over 30 years ago that Dave Mustaine founded Megadeth, in the process pioneering the sound that would become known the world over as thrash metal. And from the very beginning, the band proved to be the most lethal and audacious unit on the heavy music scene, pushing thrash to the limits of musical ferocity and instrumental virtuosity on early efforts including their 1985 debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business is Good! In the decades since, Megadeth have taken their place as one of metal’s most influential and respected acts – not to mention among its most successful: The band has sold 38 million albums, notched six consecutive platinum efforts, and garnered 12 GRAMMY® nominations. Now, Megadeth have reinvented themselves once again. The legendary metal outfit, led by Mustaine, released their 15th studio effort Dystopia, which debuted at number 3 on the Billboard Top 20 and won a 2017 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance.”
Papa Roach:
Papa Roach are a rare breed. Time, as ever, is the real test. Sure, you might have hits early on in your career, but what do you do when the spotlight moves to someone else, when your initial heat cools off? Many lose their nerve and change their sound to whatever’s cool this week. Rare, however, is the band that holds their mettle, that take the time to grow, that use those moments when fame’s fickle finger is pointing elsewhere to take risks and to try new things. Papa Roach is exactly this band and they are releasing their new album this year, Who Do You Trust?, which marks a paradigm career shift, redefining them and translating their sound to an entirely new audience, without losing the loyal following they’ve built.
Pop Evil:
When North Muskegon, Michigan native Leigh Kakaty formed Pop Evil, he chose the band’s name for a reason. He loved hard rock songs with good melodies, but he also dug loud, crunchy guitars and propulsive metal rhythms. Five albums into Pop Evil’s career, combining strong hooks with knockout punches is more important than ever. The band’s new record, simply called Pop Evil, is a surging, contemporary sounding release that incorporates metal, alternative, hard rock, and even electronic music.
Badflower:
Since forming in 2013, frontman Josh Katz, guitarist Joey Morrow, drummer Anthony Sonetti, and bassist Alex Espiritu have toured relentlessly across the US and beyond, building up a reputation as a formidable live force as well as an ever-growing mass of loyal followers and praise from the likes of Billboard, Forbes, and Consequence Of Sound. As a band with plenty to say, mental health isn’t the only message Badflower share on their debut album, “OK, I’m SICK,” which represents a band full of ideas and submerged in the most modern of sounds.
