Stone & Swan Re-Elected to Lead MMSD Commission in 2025
(Milwaukee, WI) – Commissioners of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) on Monday elected former state lawmaker Jeff Stone as Chair of the MMSD Commission for 2025 and Business Agent Local 113 John Swan III as Vice Chair.
During his tenure in the legislature Stone served for 6 years on the Joint Finance Committee, as well as chairing the Transportation, Small Business, Health and Highway Safety Committees. He also served as Alderman, Finance Chair and Common Council President for the City of Greenfield. Stone served as water utility regulator with the Wisconsin Public Service Commission with rate and construction oversight responsibilities for all of the nearly 600 water utilities in Wisconsin.
Boards served on include: Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Wisconsin Center District, UW Hospital and Clinics, Milwaukee County Historical Society, Wastecap Wisconsin, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, UW Population Health Institute and the Wisconsin Policy Forum.
John Swan III was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from John Marshall High School. In 1997, Swan became a member of Laborers International Union of North America, Local No. 113, working as a Labor Apprentice. He’s been an active member for nearly 26 years, currently serving as Secretary Treasurer and Business Agent, as well as a representative on several boards within the organization.
Swan worked in the field on several major projects, including: Miller Park, the Pleasant Prairie Power Plant, and the Oak Creek Power Plant.
