Steny’s Tavern To Be Featured On America’s Best Restaurants

MILWAUKEE:   – Local restaurant Steny’s Tavern will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in early November 2024.

America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on November 6th.  Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with father-and-son owners Jerry and Ryan Steny about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

Jerry Steny opened his namesake bar in 1985, a tiny ten-stool establishment that he and his new bride lived above. They only served frozen pizza. Over the years the bar expanded and became much more food-focused, with wings, brunch, and the Friday fish fry some of the most popular options, all still served in a dive-bar-esque atmosphere.

“We’re still a very established drinking place, but we have some of the best scratch bar food in the city, you know,” Jerry says.

The menu also offers a wide variety of sandwiches, pizza, soups and salads, entrees, burgers and nachos. The top cocktail is their award-winning bloody mary, a recipe served since inception of the bar, and which the restaurant makes in five-gallon buckets.

“Just a pickle and olive on top, just the way it should be, you know?” Jerry says.

One unique and popular aspect of Steny’s are the event shuttles that transport patrons to area sporting events and concerts for the price of a food or drink purchase.

This past summer the Stenys opened a second location, Steny’s Lake Country in Pewaukee. Located in the former space of Boomers Sports Pub & Grill, the extensively remodeled eatery offers a similar menu to the original location, as well as the shuttles to events and 28 beers and four cocktails on tap.

America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Wednesday November 6th from 9 am to noon CST. The press is invited to attend.
