Ms. Jezamil Arroyo-Vega is well-known for her record of service, strong resume, and ability in grassroots organization. The unanimous support of her historic nomination in the Common Council vote today demonstrates how highly she is regarded.
The Mayor has said this is an interim appointment pending a broad search. We trust he will continue to consult with Common Council members to ensure a suitable permanent commissioner is selected. In the meantime, it is good to know the department is in capable hands.
