Statement of Marlene Ott, President of the Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans
re: the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit’s Ruling in Gear v. Bostelmann and the Republican National Committee Regarding the Absentee Ballot Witness Signature Mandate
“Tonight’s ruling defies common sense. Thousands of Wisconsin seniors who live alone now have an unnecessary and unfair choice to make. They either violate the governor’s stay-at-home order and leave their homes to find a witness — or know their ballot will not be counted,” said Marlene Ott, President of the Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans. “This is not democracy in action.”
