Statement from the Office of the County Executive
We learned this morning that an inmate in our custody at the Milwaukee County House of Correction (HOC) tested positive for COVID-19. We will be working with the Health Department to track the movements of the individual prior to being in our custody. The inmate was moved once they became symptomatic and was tested two days later. Upon notification of the positive result, medical staff took immediate action and have determined the inmate is stable and does not need medical attention in addition to what can be provided at the HOC. The inmate has been moved to segregation and is under quarantine. There are several other inmates who are symptomatic, and we are following the same precautions with them. We have been anticipating and planning for this situation and are quickly reacting to it. More details are forthcoming.
