Daily service to/from “America’s Finest City” begins this fall

MILWAUKEE (February 6, 2025)Southwest Airlines is expanding its nonstop service between Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) and San Diego International Airport (SAN) this fall.

Beginning October 2, Southwest will fly the route every day of the week except Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Previously, Southwest operated MKE-SAN seasonally on Saturdays.

“After testing the San Diego route on Saturdays during the last couple of summers, Southwest’s expansion to the west coast shows that when our community supports new service by booking travel from Milwaukee’s airport, it can help convince airlines to add more flights from MKE,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “By stepping up and flying from MKE, we also support new jobs and boost our local Wisconsin economy.”

The new flights will operate five days per week on full-size 737 aircraft. The full flight schedule is listed below:

Day From To Depart Arrive
Monday MKE SAN 1:35PM 3:50PM
Thursday MKE SAN 1:35PM 3:50PM
Friday MKE SAN 1:35PM 3:50PM
Saturday MKE SAN 2:40PM 5:00PM
Sunday MKE SAN 3:35PM 5:55PM
Monday SAN MKE 12:30PM 6:30PM
Thursday SAN MKE 12:30PM 6:30PM
Friday SAN MKE 12:30PM 6:30PM
Saturday SAN MKE 9:55AM 4:00PM
Sunday SAN MKE 12:45PM 6:50PM

With today’s announcement, Southwest now offers nonstop flights to 17 destinations from MKE. On March 6, Southwest will launch new daily nonstop service between Milwaukee and Austin, and the airline is again offering convenient nonstop service to popular spring break destinations. In addition to daily service to Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Myers, Southwest will fly between MKE and Cancun on Saturdays and Sundays from March 6 through April 7. Nonstop flights to/from Fort Lauderdale and Sarasota/Bradenton, FL, will also be offered during the same period.
