Milwaukee, WI (November 13, 2020) Sheriff Earnell R. Lucas issued the following statement on Kim Ng being named general manager of the Miami Marlins Baseball Club:
“I am very proud of Kim Ng being named general manager of the Miami Marlins Baseball Club. Kim has a long list of accomplishments in baseball and now adds to it being named the first woman general manager in Major League Baseball history. I worked with Kim since her days with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and later upon her joining the Office of the Commissioner. She is an extremely knowledgeable and talented baseball executive who possesses the management skills and ability to make the Miami Marlins Baseball Club a perennial winner in Major League Baseball. I offer my congratulations to her for breaking barriers in Major League Baseball in the tradition of Jackie Robinson and continuing to be an inspiration to young men and women of every color and race. I also congratulate Miami Marlins Chief Executive Officer Derek Jeter for making this historic appointment of the first woman general manager of a major men’s professional sports team in America.”
