Republicans Pander to Big Business Lobby, Leaving Local Communities Behind

"Democrats continue standing up for the regular folks in our local communities..."

MADISON – State Representative Lisa Subeck (D – Madison) released the following statement today after the Assembly passed Assembly Bill 748, a Republican bill which takes away the ability of local communities to enact ordinances regarding living wages, workforce protections, and other measures that ensure fairness in the workplace. The bill would add to the 162 measures already enacted by Governor Walker and Republicans that are unfunded mandates on local cities, villages, towns, or counties or that prevent local governments from making decisions on behalf of their communities.

“Republicans are once again doing the bidding of the special interest lobbyists who represent big corporations and national chain stores by taking away the ability of local communities to set fair employment standards based on their own needs and values. While the state has an important role in protecting our workforce and enforcing workplace standards, we should set the floor, not the ceiling on things like fair employment standards and living wages. At the eleventh hour, Republicans attached an Amendment that carves out Foxconn from the bill, proving the fact that a one size fits all approach from the state will not work. We have to empower our local communities to innovate. Democrats continue standing up for the regular folks in our local communities, even as Republicans engage in a race to the bottom on behalf of big money special interests.”

Of course, but while Career Politician Scott Walker and Reoublicans are doing the bidding of their Corporate Masters they are also leaving behind small businesses and entreoreneurs as well. Wisconsin os still, year after year under Walker DEAD LAST in new business start ups and entrepreneurship. Walker and Republicans could care less. They are too busy stealing our votingbrights via gerrymandering, too busy living high on the hog off of OUR tax money. Too busy enjoying great “free” heakthcare we pay for while we get jack sh#t for healthcare. Too busy lettingbrlthe roads crumble while yhey run up a ONE BILLION dollar DOT budget deficit. They are too busy handing over 4.5 BILLION of our tax dollars for crappy Chinese tv screen maker jobs. Too busy blamingnthe poor, the meek and powerless for EVERYTHING and making the pee in a cup for food but of course Career Pokitician Walker and Reoublicans don’t have to pee in a cup while they mooch off of OUR money for literally decades! They are too busy changing the campaign finance laws to allow unlimited amounts of out of state Dark Money to flow into their campaigns as well as into judicial campaigns. Guess which way these “impartial” judges rule? Always in favor of Walker and Republicans. It’s called “corruption” folks but It doesn’t have to be like this! All we have to do is drop these liars, cheaters and crooks like a bad habit in November 2018.
