MADISON, Wis. — Tariff Lover Tom Tiffany is working hard to use the government shutdown as another tool to raise costs for everyday Wisconsinites and give tax breaks to his billionaire friends—this time through healthcare premiums which could more than double for working families. Tiffany called on Senate Republicans to “hold firm” in their negotiations with Democrats, indicating that he does not want them to compromise on extending ACA tax credits which leaves vulnerable Wisconsinites to bear the brunt of the Republican cost hikes right before the holiday season.

“Tom Tiffany has made it clear that while he can support over a trillion dollars in tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, ensuring 24 million Americans don’t see their health care costs go through the roof is a bridge too far,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson Emily Stuckey. “Tariff Tom is giving Wisconsinites the middle finger by sticking them with higher health costs even as he enjoys his taxpayer funded salary and health care.”

Tiffany has long looked for an angle to walk back the Affordable Care Act and raise prices for working Wisconsinites and this Republican shutdown is giving him the opportunity he needs to do it.
