Representative Shelia Stubbs Sworn In As Representative for the 78th Assembly District
MADISON, WI – Today, Representative Shelia Stubbs was sworn in as the Representative for the 78th District in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Representative Shelia Stubbs (D-Madison) released the following statement:
I am excited to meet and begin working with my new and continuing constituents to create legislation that improves the lives of all Wisconsinites. I would also like to congratulate my new and returning colleagues in the State Legislature on their inauguration: I look forward to our ongoing collaboration in service of our constituents and the State of Wisconsin.
With the beginning of our new legislative session, I will be returning to my role as the Ranking Democratic Member on the Assembly Committee on Corrections. I will also be taking on two new committee assignments: the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities and the Assembly Committee on Health, Aging and Long Term Care. It is my privilege to serve on committees that address policy areas of great importance to both me and my constituents.
This session, I will work hard on policy that prioritizes safety, equity, and justice in our communities. I will also continue leading on bills that fully fund our public school systems in Wisconsin, conserve and protect our environment and natural resources, keep our land and waterways free from pollution, reform our criminal justice system, implement common sense gun safety policy, protect and expand the rights of labor for living-wage jobs, and ensure all Wisconsinites have access to high quality and affordable healthcare and mental health services.
