MADISON – State Representative Evan Goyke (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement in commemoration of Memorial Day 2014:
“Each year on Memorial Day citizens throughout Wisconsin honor those who have served our nation and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. We honor their heroism and unwavering patriotism.”
“We also come together at our homes and in our classrooms to learn about when and where our freedom was defended and about those who proudly served to protect it. 2014 marks the 70th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion during the Second World War and the 150th
Anniversary of the Battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Courthouse during the Civil War, among others.”
