Rep. Zamarripa Statement on #CloseTheCamps
"Close the camps, and stand up against hate, bigotry and inhumane treatment."
MADISON – State Representative JoCasta Zamarripa (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement on nationwide protests demanding the closure of detention centers along the U.S.-Mexican border:
“Right now, in the United States of America, children and families are held in detention. In the care of our government, young children are being held in unsanitary conditions, some going without adequate food and water. This is a travesty. This is shameful. This is not who we are as a nation.
“Members of Congress can act. When children are suffering, the issue is no longer partisan. Close the camps, and stand up against hate, bigotry and inhumane treatment.
