Rep. Scott Fitzgerald Issues Statement on Partisan Funding Bill
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) issued the following statement after voting “NO” on the stopgap funding bill:
“Today, Democrats put forward H.R. 6833 the FY23 Continuing Resolution, which was drafted without input from Republicans whatsoever.
Our government funding bills should take steps to reduce the deficit, eliminate waste, and address the current issues most important to Americans. Those are the kind of changes we need to make if we want to get the nation’s fiscal house in order and tamp down the economic challenges we face, said Congressman Fitzgerald.“
BACKGROUND
H.R. 6833 would extend discretionary government funding levels for FY22 through December 16th, 2022, subject to some anomalies. Current funding was set to expire after September 30, 2022.
