Rep. Robyn Vining Thanks Election Workers, and Calls On Her Republican Colleagues to Get Back to Work On COVID-19 Response
MADISON – This week, the electors of the Electoral College met to cast their votes for the next President of the United States. Wisconsin cast its 10 electoral votes for President to former Vice President Joe Biden and for Vice President to Senator Kamala Harris. Also this week, the Wisconsin State Supreme Court rejected the lawsuit filed by President Trump’s campaign to overturn the election results in Wisconsin. State Representative Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) issued the following statement in response:
“We can have confidence in the election that was conducted in Wisconsin. It was free, fair, and transparent. Voters – not political parties, candidates, or legislative committees – decide our elections. No evidence has been provided that would suggest that the election results in Wisconsin are fraudulent in any way.
“There is no reason to distrust the outcome of this election. The results are in and must be accepted. Let’s move forward together and focus on the pressing issues in our state and the country. The Legislature should be meeting to pass COVID-19 relief – our people are in desperate need. Our Committees on Health and Small Business Development should both be meeting to understand and respond to the needs of our people. We need fixes to the unemployment system. There is work to be done. Let’s set aside the division, thank our hard-working clerks who rose to the occasion and administered a safe and fair election during a pandemic, and get to work. ”
Rep. Vining represents the 14th Assembly District, which includes parts of Brookfield, Wauwatosa, and Milwaukee. For more information, visit Rep. Vining’s website here.
