Rep. Peter Barca Statement on GOP Legislators Hiring Attorneys

"We should not be spending another cent defending unconstitutional legislative maps."

By - Feb 15th, 2017 04:22 pm

MADISON – The following is a statement from Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca regarding the Assembly Republicans setting prices for the hiring of private attorneys to fight the unconstitutional legislative maps:

“We should not be spending another cent defending unconstitutional legislative maps. On the taxpayer’s dime, Assembly Republicans have already spent over two million dollars on private attorneys, despite access to a team of lawyers in the Attorney General’s office. It’s unacceptable that the state is paying for this when we have real problems that need funding solutions, like fixing our roads, education, employment and training systems.”
