Rep. Goodwin Thanks Gov. Evers for Rapid Release of SNAP Benefits
MADISON, Wis. — Following a federal court’s ruling that the Trump Administration must reverse its withholding of SNAP payments to states, the Evers Administration immediately moved to release full November payments for all Wisconsin FoodShare members. Today, State Representative Russell Antonio Goodwin, Sr. (D–Milwaukee) issued the following statement, recognizing the decisive action taken by Governor Tony Evers and the leadership he has displayed throughout this government shutdown:
“I want to thank Governor Evers for taking swift action and releasing SNAP benefits today. This is not just a policy decision — this is a critical lifeline for families across our state who are struggling with the cost of groceries. For many of my constituents, food assistance is the difference between feeding their children adequately or going without.”Rep. Goodwin added that Wisconsin must continue prioritizing affordability in the basics that families rely on every single day:
“We must continue working together so families can afford food, healthcare, and daily essentials in Wisconsin.”
He noted that timely access to benefits is especially important as families continue to face inflationary pressure on everyday essentials.
“We cannot allow bureaucracy or delay to stand between families and food. Today’s action ensures that real people get real help, right now.”
Rep. Goodwin said he looks forward to continuing to work with the Evers Administration and colleagues in the Legislature to expand access, reduce barriers, and keep Wisconsin families fed.NOTE: This press release was submitted to Urban Milwaukee and was not written by an Urban Milwaukee writer.
