MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Today, State Representative Russell Antonio Goodwin, Sr. (D-Milwaukee) made the following statement on the release of state aid to Milwaukee Public Schools:

“I want to congratulate Milwaukee Public Schools on receiving the much-needed $16 million in state aid for special education and students who are also parents. This investment is well-deserved and serves as a strong vote of confidence in the hard work, resilience, and commitment of MPS educators, staff, and students.

Under the leadership of Superintendent Brenda Cassellius, MPS has developed a renewed environment of accountability and hope—an environment that will inspire our community to believe in them again. The future of our city and our state depends on the success of our public schools. I will continue to do everything in my power to act as a partner to schools in my district and deliver on my campaign promise to uplift and support the students, families, and teachers who are the heart of these schools.

Every child in Milwaukee deserves the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. Together, we can ensure that they are equipped with the resources to do so.”
