Quasimondo Milwaukee Physical Theatre premieres Animolecules Choreographia Microbiotica
Directed by Jenni Reinke & Brian Rott. December 3rd - 11th at Danceworks, 1661 N. Water St.
Viruses invade and enzymes defend in a bitty bloodletting. Species unite in symbiotic matrimony. Cells divide in an oozing orgy. Fuzzy fungi feast on feet. Physical observation leads to existential quandary when a scientist discovers that the origin of species lives within.
Animolecules is an original dan-sci theatre work of microscopic proportions. An exquisite corpse of dancers and their microbiota magnify the stage, bioluminated with stunning costumes, visceral visualization and sublime sonics. Featuring the work of sculptural artist Bridget Cookson, animator Terry Spears, and composer Stephen Gallam. Choreographia microbiotica composes and decomposes out-of-body experiences and inner worlds.
Quasimondo invites you to travel through the microscope, following the specimens of evolution and scientific progress to dissect bodies and being, science and art, human and animal, and to hypothesize what it means to be human today.
This work is made possible in part by rehearsal space provided by the UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts Department of Dance.

Quasimondo Milwaukee Physical Theatre is an ensemble of multidisciplinary artists committed to creating original work through inter-arts collaboration. We explore forms of performance and fuse modes of expression, challenging theatrical paradigms to create innovative work that is aural, kinetic, visual, and visceral. We strive through research, training, and performance to expose ourselves and audiences to international theatrical traditions and perspectives. It is our mission to make theatre that celebrates the diversity of the world we live in, that communicates in a common sensory language; that inspires audiences and enriches the community.
