Public Market Sets Record for Sales & Visits in 2016
Total vendor sales increased 10%.
Milwaukee, WISC – The Milwaukee Public Market has reached another milestone. Today, the Third Ward destination announced gross sales and customer visits rose to record breaking levels in 2016. Total vendor sales increased 10%, rising from $14,351,582 in 2015 to $15,829,999 last year. Customer visits saw a 11% increase, rising from 1,390,439 in 2015 to 1,548,581 in 2016, maintaining its position as a top tier local attraction.
“It’s been incredibly gratifying to witness the support and patronage of the market from locals and tourists from around the world,” said operation and communication manager, Paul Schwartz. “The 2016 sales figures are more than double our total sales for 2010. That’s unbelievable growth within in a six year period. I think we’ve cemented our status as one of the top destinations in the downtown area.”
As one of the most successful mixed-use developments in the city, the market also plays host to public cooking classes and private events on the second level, which have become increasingly popular. As is the case every year, the market will continue to create ways to stay fresh and attract a wide customer base, according to Schwartz.
The public market, which opened in October 2005, is owned and operated by the Third Ward Business Improvement District #2.
