Preserve Our Parks Opposes Development in McGovern Park

Calls on Citizens to Contact Elected Representatives to Vote NO

By - Jun 3rd, 2025 04:20 pm

Preserve Our Parks (POP) is an non-profit advocacy group created out of the need to stand up against inappropriate development in Milwaukee County Parks. We have fought to keep Parks and Green Spaces open and public for over 25 years.

After years of underfunding our Public Parks, Citizens of Milwaukee County are now witnessing the predicted outcome: loss of a public park to development. POP has already sent a letter to Health and Human Services Director, Shakita LaGrant McClain, copy attached, opposing this housing development.

The County Board is expected to take up this resolution at its regularly scheduled June Board meeting, June 19, 2025. POP calls on citizens to oppose loss of parkland to develop housing by contacting County Executive David Crowley and your elected Supervisor to tell them you support parks and oppose the McGovern Park housing plan. Contact information below.

Milwaukee County has a strong legacy of supporting parks for current and future generations. Let’s not become the first generation that loses public parks.
