PPAWI Statement on Vos Abortion Comments

Stop trying to ban abortion.

By - Aug 19th, 2024 02:59 pm

Madison, Wis. – In a recent article in the Capital Times, Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said he would still like to advance a statewide referendum banning abortion in Wisconsin. Below is a statement from Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin Director of Communications Analiese Eicher.

“Republican Robin Vos’ fixation on his radical plan to ban abortion in Wisconsin by amending the constitution with an even more restrictive abortion ban is disingenuous and out of touch with the overwhelming majority of Wisconsinites.

Make no mistake, Robin Vos is hoping candidates like Jessie Rodriguez (21), Amy Binsfeld (26), Shannon Zimmerman (30), Dean Kaufert (53), Bob Donovan (61), Patrick Snyder (85), Benjamin Franklin (88), Patrick Buckley (89), Clint Moses (92) and Ryan Huebsch (94) are elected so they can support his plan to further restrict and ban abortion. PPAWI is educating voters in these districts about these candidates’ unpopular positions on issues like abortion bans and has endorsed candidates in these districts who are reproductive health champions.

Vos’ continued attempts to ban abortion care are disruptive to health care and PPAWI will continue to work toward protecting and expanding abortion care in Wisconsin.”
