EAGLE, Wis.– The beauty of Wisconsin’s autumn harvest will be on full display this September as Old World Wisconsin, the state’s largest living history attraction, presents “Fall on the Farms.”

Beginning Aug. 30, Old World Wisconsin transitions to fall hours, welcoming guests on Saturdays and Sundays only through Sept. 28. The final day of summer operations is Aug. 24.

As the seasons change, the site’s five historic farmsteads come alive with fall activity. Historically dressed interpreters will engage guests in hands-on seasonal preparations, including pickling and fermenting vegetables, packing produce for root cellars, salting and smoking meats, making sausage, and participating in butter and cheese making. Guests will also be invited to help with harvesting corn and pumpkins, as well as apple picking and cider pressing.

While you’re enjoying the autumn traditions, take a moment to meet some of Old World’s heritage breed farm animals. Say hello to Ollie and Finn, a rare pair of Kerry oxen. Watch the Cotswold sheep graze nearby, and if you’re lucky, one of our Gloucestershire Old Spots pigs might greet you with a friendly snort.

In addition to favorite fall traditions and furry farm friends, guests can take in the beauty of the season on a scenic hike along Old World Wisconsin’s many nature trails. Prefer to relax and enjoy the views? Tram transportation is available throughout the 600-acre property.

After exploring, unwind with a stop at the recently added 1930s-era Wittnebel’s Tavern for an Oktoberfest ale, or head to the outdoor Biergarten to take in expansive views of the Kettle Moraine Forest dressed in fall colors.

Tickets are $20 for adults and teens, $18 for seniors (65 plus), $13 for children five to 12 and free for children under five. Old World Wisconsin is located at W372 S9727 Hwy 67, Eagle, WI 53119.
