Nominations Open for 3rd Annual Jeanne Lowry Award
Street Angels, Inc. is requesting nominations for the 3rd annual Jeanne Lowry Award. The award was established by Street Angels, Inc. to recognize the unique and enduring example of Jeanne Lowry’s extraordinary life of service to people experiencing mental illness and homelessness in the Milwaukee community.
Jeanne Lowry was a gifted psychiatric nurse. For many years, at the American Red Cross and Community Advocates, she led the effort to established skilled mental health outreach services for people experiencing homelessness. She founded the Homeless Outreach Nursing Center and was instrumental in the development and operation of Autumn West, the community’s first Safe Haven. Jeanne Lowry served on the Street Angels, Inc. Board of Directors from 2018 until her death in 2020, lending her deep experience and support to continued improvements in street outreach.

Street Angels, Inc.is a nonprofit organization established in 2016 to bring food, survival supplies, connection to essential services, and hope to people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Since July of 2018, Street Angels has met 2,172 unduplicated individuals on the street. So far in 2023, Street Angels have met and documented homelessness for 259 individuals.
