News Release – Marcia P. Coggs Health and Human Services Center Streamlines Access to Vital Community Resources
Milwaukee County has unveiled its redesigned Marcia P. Coggs Health and Human Services Center, a reimagined space for connecting people to critical programs designed to strengthen families, protect the vulnerable, and build community resilience. This newly updated facility reflects a ‘No Wrong Door’ approach, ensuring that whether someone walks in looking for assistance, they will be connected to the right services without delay. Some of the key Services Offered at the Coggs Center:
- Behavioral Health Services: Offering mental health and substance use programs tailored to individuals and families, with a focus on long-term recovery and wellness.
- Wraparound Milwaukee: A nationally recognized care coordination model serving youth with complex needs through community-based, individualized plans.
- Housing Services: Resources for those facing homelessness or eviction, including emergency housing assistance and long-term stability planning.
- Child Support Services: Helping parents navigate support enforcement, payment plans, and legal concerns in a child-focused manner.
- Family Services: Connecting families to parenting education, reunification programs, and community resources to build stronger family units.
- Veterans’ Services: Ensuring veterans have access to the benefits, housing support, and healthcare options they have earned through service.
- Energy Assistance: Providing help with energy bills and utilities through the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP).
- NourishMKE Food Pantry: An on-site pantry offering fresh and shelf-stable foods to fight hunger and promote community nutrition.
The new Coggs Center is situated in the heart of Milwaukee and is open for walk-ins, referrals, and scheduled appointments. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Center’s new home: 1230 W Cherry Street, in Milwaukee’s King Park Neighborhood.
