#MUBB Hosts #4/4 UConn Saturday on Senior Day
Senior ceremony begins at 11 a.m. CT, opening tip at 11:30 a.m. on FOX
The Marquette University men’s basketball team (11-19, 6-13 BIG EAST) wraps up the regular season on Saturday, March 7 when the squad hosts No. 4/4 UConn (27-3, 17-2 BIG EAST) at 11:30 a.m. CT on Senior Day in Fiserv Forum. FOX features the national television broadcast, with Tim Brando (play-by-play) and Donny Marshall (analyst) on the call. Following Saturday’s action, the Golden Eagles will head to the BIG EAST Tournament, opening play in the first round on March 11.
All-Time Series Has Plenty Of Highlights
Marquette has faced UConn on just 22 occasions all-time (Huskies lead 14-8), but the limited series has already provided a number of memories.
Other highlights include a game-winning shot by Jimmy Butler with three seconds left in a 70-68 road win in 2009-10 and a home overtime win on Jan. 1, 2013 when Junior Cadougan forced the extra session on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer.
The Huskies have claimed each of the last six meetings, most recently pulling away in the second half for a 73-57 victory on Jan. 4, 2026 at Gampel Pavilion.
MU’s BIG EAST Tourney Picture Developing
After Wednesday night’s win at Providence, the Golden Eagles still only know they will be playing in the opening round of the BIG EAST tourney on March 11 and will have to wait until Saturday’s results to confirm the team’s seeding.
Marquette could finish as high as seventh in the league, or as low as 11th, based on 16-different scenarios as the regular season enters its final weekend of play. St. John’s faces Seton Hall on Friday night for a chance to claim the regular season title and three of the four outings on Saturday are in the afternoon, but MU’s seed might not be confirmed until after the conclusion of the 5 p.m. CT Providence at Georgetown matchup.
Marquette Honoring Quartet On Senior Day
Marquette will honor a quartet of seniors on Saturday prior to the regular-season finale, recognizing Ben Gold, Jonah Lucas, Casey O’Malley and Chase Ross.
Of the 165 players on the 11 BIG EAST Conference rosters in 2022-23, only four scholarship players (Gold, Ross, Corey Floyd Jr. – PC and Alex Karaban – UConn) who have played the last four seasons with their respective schools remain for Senior Day festivities. Marquette will also recognize senior managers Terry Gordon and Owen DiSabitino.
