MPD officers make armed robbery arrests
Statement from Alderman Robert W. Puente April 23, 2015
I would like to publicly thank the Milwaukee police officers who helped arrest two violent armed robbery suspects over the past 24 hours or so.
The first arrest (of a 17-year-old male) was for the extremely violent armed car theft Tuesday night of a woman near N. 50th and W. Locust Streets. In that robbery, the assailant shot the victim in the face and then took off with her vehicle. Officers arrested the male (and recovered a gun that he tossed) following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase.
The second arrest occurred when Milwaukee police officers caught a young male who is alleged to have robbed – at knifepoint – two victims on county transit buses, stabbing one of the victims. The violent incidents were captured on surveillance cameras and shown on local TV news.
This type of fine police work happens daily, but unfortunately doesn’t get recognized as often as it should. Our police officers put themselves in harm’s way to get violent criminals off our streets every day, and their fine work deserves recognition.
Well done officers, well done!
