MKE Continues to Innovate: Coat Check Service Now Available
Mitchell Airport becomes the only major U.S airport to allow travelers to check their coats
MILWAUKEE (February 13, 2020) – Just in time for the upcoming spring break travel season, Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is proud to announce the debut of a new coat check service. The new amenity is sure to be a hit with travelers heading to warm weather destinations.
In partnership with retail partner Paradies Lagardère, the new service will be offered inside the newly opened Summerfest Marketplace store, which is located pre-security in the Airport’s concession mall.
“We believe we’re the only major airport in the nation to offer coat check services, and it’s a great fit during our harsh winters,” Airport Director Brian Dranzik said. “Heavy winter coats can take up a lot of space in luggage. This new option allows travelers to wear their coats to the airport, leave them with a friendly attendant in the Summerfest Marketplace, and then claim them after landing back here at MKE.”
The location is easily accessible to travelers using any of the airport’s concourses, and will be available to travelers on all flights, seven days per week. The cost is two dollars per day, with a maximum charge of ten dollars.
“Paradies Lagardère is excited to offer this innovative new service for travelers at MKE,” said Mike Barnes, regional vice president, Paradies Lagardère. “We’re committed to developing solutions for both travelers and our airport partners that deliver ease, convenience and first-class experiences.”
MKE currently offers nonstop flights to 40+ destinations coast-to-coast, and 160 international destinations are available from Milwaukee with just one connection. MKE is served by Air Canada, Alaska, American, Apple Vacations/Funjet Vacations, Delta, Frontier, Southwest, and United. The complete list of nonstop cities can be found at mitchellairport.com.
Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is owned by Milwaukee County and operated by the Department of Transportation, Airport Division, under the policy direction of the Milwaukee County Executive and the County Board of Supervisors. The Airport is entirely funded by user fees; no property tax dollars are used for the Airport’s capital improvements or for its day-to-day operation.
