MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit to Feature Workshops, Vendors, Keynote Address and More
The 14th annual MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit will take place this Saturday, January 31, from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School, located at 3275 N. 3rd St. The event, hosted annually by Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs, is free and open to the public. Media coverage is invited.
Vendors will be on-site throughout the event and include representatives from various city agencies, financial institutions, business development groups, community resource providers, and more.
Three workshops will be held throughout the day, beginning at 10:15 a.m. with Permits, Licensing, and Planning – Navigating the City Processes, presented by The Department of City Development, Licenses Division, and the Board of Zoning Appeals.
At 11:15 a.m. Dr. Robert Pyles, a real estate developer, executive coach, and author, will deliver his keynote address moderated by Chauntel Forbes, Principal Strategist of The PowHER Network.
Workshops continue at noon with Access to Capital: Understanding Public and Private Funding Options, presented by the African American Chamber of Commerce and BMO Bank, and Tech That Pays: Essential Tools Every Small Business Owner Should Be Using, presented by Marquayla Ellison, Ellastic Designs, LLC.
The summit concludes at 1:15 p.m. with a panel discussion featuring a variety of local business owners who will share their stories and experiences with the audience. This year’s panel includes: Nick Berlin and Jay Whisenten, Owners/Operators of Black and White Barbershop; Melissa Blue Muhammad, Founder of Allah Mode; Deanna Singh, Founder and Chief Change Agent of Flying Elephant; and Michael Adetoro, President of FIT Investment Group. The panel will be moderated by Frankie Jupiter of CBS 58.
The MKE Business Now Entrepreneurship Summit is held to support the growth of local entrepreneurship and help innovators stimulate economic development, neighborhood reinvestment, and job creation. The event is sponsored by Alderwoman Coggs, the Historic King Drive Business Improvement District 8, the City of Milwaukee, the African American Chamber of Commerce, and Clear Channel Outdoor.
