Milwaukeeans invited to 3rd annual “Heal the Hood” event

Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs invites residents who are concerned by the recent increase in violence and crime to attend the third annual “Heal the Hood” block party.

Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs invites residents who are concerned by the recent increase in violence and crime to attend the third annual “Heal the Hood” block party this weekend to be inspired by and engaged in discussions about approaches to ending the
problem.

Heal the Hood is a campaign that strives to promote self-sustainability and non-violence. Sunday’s block party is slated to be a gathering of like-minded neighbors who want to come together as a community to create something positive. It will take place from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at the corner of N. 24th St. and W. Keefe St., and will feature food, vendors, entertainment and more.

Hosts include Alderwoman Coggs and Heal the Hood campaign founder Ajamou Butler. Meant 2B Karaoke will provide music and entertainment, and Abel Muhammad will be the guest speaker.
The event is free and open to the public.
