Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office Arrests a Suspect in the Shooting which Occurred on 1-94 E/B at about 35th Street Earlier Today

Milwaukee, WI (April 25, 2020) On Saturday, April 25, at 8:23 a.m., Milwaukee County Sheriff‘s deputies responded to the West Milwaukee Police Department for a report of shots fired on the freeway system. Upon arrival, they were met by the complainant who indicated that a short time earlier this morning, on eastbound 1-94 at about 35th Street, another vehicle traveling eastbound on 1-94 pulled alongside of his vehicle when the operator of the vehicle fired 3 or 4 shots from an undescribed weapon, striking his vehicle, and continued traveling eastbound on I-94.

Milwaukee County Sheriff’s investigators responded to the area of the shooting and closed the freeway system to conduct a search for evidence. The investigators were able to locate three spent shell casings and collected them as evidence. Investigators obtained information on a possible suspect vehicle. A short time later, investigators located and secured the vehicle.

Subsequently, investigators were able to take a suspect into custody without incident in connection with this matter. The individual was conveyed to the Milwaukee County Jail on potential charges to include 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.

Milwaukee County Sheriff Earnell R. Lucas stated, “Let me be clear, discharging a firearm on the freeway will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I urge any individual who thinks they can discharge a weapon on the interstate system to think again, because the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office will exhaust every measure available to us to identify you and bring you to justice.” The Milwaukee County Sheriffs Office is continuing its investigation into the shooting.
