Milwaukee Ballet Presents Season Finale ‘Alice (in Wonderland)’
The imaginative, visually spectacular production returns after 10 years
Milwaukee, WI – March 26, 2026 – Milwaukee Ballet invites audiences down the rabbit hole for Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), a vibrant and imaginative interpretation of Lewis Carrol’s beloved story, running over two weekends, May 1-10, at the Marcus Performing Arts Center.
Last performed in 2016, the imaginative production was originally slated to return in 2021 before being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, ten years after its Milwaukee debut, ALICE (in wonderland) re-emerges as a highly anticipated season finale—bringing its signature spectacle, humor, and theatrical magic to a new generation of audiences.
“ALICE (in wonderland) is a celebration of imagination at its most unrestrained,” said Artistic Director Michael Pink. “It’s playful, surprising, and visually rich—an experience that invites audiences of all ages to rediscover the joy of storytelling through dance.”
Created by choreographer Septime Webre, the production captivates audiences with its large-scale design and dynamic movement. Milwaukee Ballet’s staging features a full Company cast alongside Milwaukee Ballet II artists, as well as students from Milwaukee Ballet School & Academy, filling the stage with a lively and immersive world of characters—from curious creatures to larger-than-life moments.
“This is an incredibly physical and demanding production for our dancers,” said Pink. “It requires not only technical precision, but stamina and a real sense of character throughout. What makes this return especially exciting is seeing a new generation of artists step into these roles and bring their own energy and interpretation to a production Milwaukee hasn’t seen in ten years.”
With its colorful characters and whimsical storytelling, ALICE (in wonderland) invites audiences of all ages to share the magic together. A perfect outing for families, the production offers an enchanting introduction to ballet for younger viewers while delivering the creativity and technical excellence Milwaukee Ballet is known for.
In addition to its public performances, Milwaukee Ballet will offer a student matinee on May 7, welcoming area students for a special daytime performance designed to inspire young audiences through the arts. The Company will also present a sensory-friendly performance on May 6, thoughtfully adapted to create a more accessible and welcoming environment for individuals with sensory sensitivities and their families.
