Milwaukee, WI (August 6, 2019) On Tuesday, August 6, at approximately 3:07 a.m., a deputy observed an abandoned vehicle in the median of the off-ramp at westbound I-94 and Hawley Rd. Shortly thereafter, deputies and Milwaukee police officers were notified via dispatch that a caller residing on Hawley Rd. had reported contact with an individual on foot, who was behaving erratically and reporting involvement in a freeway crash.
As squads responded to this address, they were notified that the Milwaukee Police Department had made contact with occupants of a second vehicle which had exited I-94 at the Hawley Rd. off-ramp. The occupants of this vehicle reported that they had observed a male subject abandon his vehicle on the off-ramp and enter a wooded area adjacent to the ramp. At this time, the subject fired multiple shots at the second vehicle. No injuries were reported, although the vehicle sustained damage.
A K-9 search of the location by an assisting police department produced negative results. Efforts to locate the subject continue, and the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this incident. The Milwaukee Police Department, West Allis Police Department, West Milwaukee Police Department and Racine County Sheriff’s Office have assisted with this investigation.
