Statement of Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs August 21, 2025

I want to congratulate a 6th District business – HoneyBee Sage Wellness and Apothecary, LLC. – for being honored twice during last week’s Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation (known as the MANDIs).

HoneyBee Sage Wellness and Apothecary, LLC. (1819 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr.) was presented August 14 with the JPMorgan Chase Economic Development Award, and was also honored with a Wells Fargo People’s Choice Award, after an online social media campaign where the public votes for their favorite finalists across all MANDI award categories.

It is special for a business to be recognized for having a key place in fostering healthy and vibrant growth in an important commercial and cultural area (Bronzeville), and for having an overall positive impact on the neighborhood and its residents. I am proud and pleased for HoneyBee Sage Wellness and Apothecary getting the recognition they so well deserve.

The MANDIS – administered each year by the Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC) – also recognized other outstanding winners, including:

· Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment Community Health Award was presented to Serenity Inns Treatment Centers.

· Awarded for an innovative approach to a community problem, the Associated Bank Trailblazer Award was presented to Bridge Builders, Inc.-Block Transformation.

· Awarded for commitment and effectiveness over time, the BMO Cornerstone Award was presented to Walnut Way Conservation Corp.
