Looking forward to helping lead Hip-Hop Week MKE

Statement of Alderman Russell W. Stamper, II June 5, 2024

By - Jun 5th, 2024 02:09 pm

It is with great joy and anticipation that I am announcing that I will be undertaking a leadership role going forward in Hip-Hop Week MKE, an increasingly powerful official City of Milwaukee annual (city-wide) event featuring a variety of performances and events focused on civic engagement, voter registration, health and wellness, financial literacy, and opening up pathways to success.

Former Alderman Khalif J. Rainey, the founder of Hip-Hop Week and now the Executive Director of the Office of African American Affairs, will continue in his capacity in the event, but I will be joining forces with him to help push it to the next level.

Hip-Hop Week MKE will be held in October this year, and our efforts to secure sponsor support and to book the week’s dynamic lineup of events and activities will be ramping up significantly in coming weeks. As I have been closely involved with Khalif in putting together many of the past Hip-Hop Week MKE events, it is going to be my sincere honor in working tirelessly to help make this year’s event the best ever!

I want to thank my brother and friend Khalif for allowing me to step up to this elevated role, and it’s my view that Milwaukee owes a debt of gratitude to him for bringing this incredible annual phenomenon to fruition.

I am looking forward to seeing many of my fellow Milwaukeeans at the 2024 Hip-Hop Week MKE events in October.

Stay tuned!
