BACKGROUND: The Salvation Army first invited celebrities to ring bells during the 2013 Red Kettle Campaign. In 2014, The Salvation Army introduced a competition component to Celebrity Bell Ringing Day. Celebrities participate in a friendly competition by ringing bells for one hour. Celebrities collect money in their kettles at Milwaukee Public Market and from donations made online through a special link. The individual/group who raises the most money receives a traveling trophy and recognition at our volunteer luncheon. Past winners include: Katie Crowther of TODAY’S TMJ4 (2014), Christina Palladino of WISN 12 (2015), and Rebecca Klopf and Coreen Zell of TODAY’S TMJ4 (2016, 2017, 2018…they have now retired). The Salvation Army gives special thanks to every celebrity who has participated in the past and present for their support of the Red Kettle Campaign.
