Launch Event Saturday For New Nonprofit Aiming To Help Troubled Teens
Changing Hands Mentoring Foundation will serve teens who are engaging in reckless behavior (including car theft and reckless driving).
Alderwoman Chantia Lewis is inviting the community and the media to an event tomorrow – Saturday, May 7 – that will launch a new non-profit dedicated to helping troubled teens choose a better path.
Alderwoman Lewis said the new non-profit – Changing Hands Mentoring Foundation – will serve teens who are engaging in reckless behavior (including car theft and reckless driving).
“Changing Hands will be working to help heal teens who have been affected by trauma, will help build self-esteem and emphasize sustainable relationships, as well as scholastic achievement,” Alderwoman Lewis said. “Healing, inspiring, and empowering teens to see how they can choose positive outcomes is greatly needed at this moment, and I look forward to supporting this effort, and I hope other adults in the community will as well.”
The event Saturday will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Kiss Ultra Lounge, 7330 N. 76th St., in the New9thMKE. There will be prizes and other giveaways for those in attendance.
“The approach that will be used by Changing Hands to help teens is another way to also curb violence in our city, and an avenue to get our youth and city back on track,” the alderwoman said. “I strongly encourage parents and teens to come to tomorrow’s launch event!”
