InDustReal Exhibit Blends Works of Kirchen and Pritzlaff at Inspiration Studios
Industry and art will blend to create an exhibit of two distinct approaches to industrial representation by two artists who have become good friends over the years. Inspiration Studios will house a unique exhibit of original works by Dan Kirchen (Milwaukee) and Rob Pritzlaff (West Allis) at the West Allis gallery during the month of October. The artists have planned a blend of ink and paint on glass and pastels on paper for their exhibit titled InDustReal. An Opening Reception for InDustReal, free and open to the public, is scheduled for Friday, October 6, 5:00-8:00pm. Complimentary refreshments will be served, and original artwork will be available for purchase.
Kirchen offers the following explanation about his need to make art. “If I don’t do something creative, I’d lose my mind,” states Kirchen. “That said, creating some of the pieces have on occasion driven me to madness. But deadlines help me to get things done. Signing on for a show gives me a timeline to complete the piece. Often, the show has a ‘theme’ which also gives me direction and keeps me focused.”
Unlike Kirchen, Pritzlaff is new to the gallery scene. Excited to exhibit his art for the first time, and at a gallery just a few blocks from his home, he offers what can best be described as a combination of loud colors, loose lines, and simplified details, using pastels as his medium.
“I make art to capture what I see around me,” says Pritzlaff, “and what is stuck in my mind. Through pastels, I can get my hands dirty, but not too much. The process of making art becomes a welcome distraction from the world. And I want people to know that the wonder of something loose and simple can also be deep and meaningful.”
Asked what he hopes viewers will experience upon viewing this exhibit, Kirchen stated, “I hope viewers will walk away with an appreciation for my specific artistic technique and how I approach illustrating.”
An Opening Reception for InDustReal is scheduled for Friday, October 6, 5:00-8:00pm. For those unable to attend the opening, the gallery will be open 1:00-3:00pm on Saturdays, October 14, 21, and 28. Inspiration Studios is located at 1500 S 73rd Street in West Allis. More details can be found at www.inspirationstudiosgallery.com or by calling 414 587-3474.
