MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Dr. Sylvestra Ramirez has been selected as a 2016 winner of the Milwaukee Business Journal’s annual 40 Under 40 award. Ramirez is the founder and director of Physical Therapy of Milwaukee located at 3906 South 27th St.

Per the Milwaukee Business Journal, “This 40 Under 40 class represents the future of community leadership in southeastern Wisconsin. Every year, we have to make some very hard decisions as there are many deserving candidates. These individuals really stood out for what they have accomplished so far and the difference they are making in the community.” This is the 24th year the Milwaukee Business Journal has honored Milwaukee’s up-and-coming leaders.

As a bilingual, bicultural licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy and certified ergonomics specialist, Ramirez established Physical Therapy of Milwaukee to provide personalized physical therapy rehabilitation care for individuals with work-related injuries, muscle strains or sprains, sports injuries, joint pains and post-surgical rehabilitation. Physical Therapy of Milwaukee provides services to the English/Spanish speaking community in the greater Milwaukee Area.

“I want to ensure that the language barrier that exists between a physical therapist and a patient is not an obstacle that affects the critical rehabilitation process,” said Ramirez, “Patients need a quick recovery that will allow them to return to their work, sports or daily activities without pain.”

Ramirez earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Women’s Health and is a Certified Ergonomics Assessment specialist, educated on how to identify, prevent and manage injuries in the work place.

Winners will be honored in a special section Feb. 19 and at a Feb. 22 awards event.
