Government Shutdown Could Put Nutrition Assistance at Risk for 91,070 Wisconsin Women and Children
MADISON, Wis. — As Republicans politicians in Congress continue lurching toward a government shutdown, more than 90,000 Wisconsinites who rely on vital nutrition assistance from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) could soon start being turned away at grocery store counters — including 18,466 women, 53,500 children, and 19,104 infants.
