Gov. Evers Signs Bipartisan Bill to Prohibit Misuse of AI-Generated Images
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers signed a bipartisan bill to ensure the state’s criminal code is updated to reflect the increasing use and potential misuse of artificial intelligence.
Senate Bill 33, now 2025 Wisconsin Act 34:
- Expands the crime of representations depicting nudity;
- Defines “synthetic intimate representation”;
- Prohibits posting, publishing, distributing, or exhibiting a synthetic intimate representation of an identifiable person with intent to harass or intimidate them; and
- Prohibits making a reproduction of a private representation of an individual if they did not consent to the making of the reproduction.
