Gov. Evers Appoints Joshua A. Dryak as Oconto County District Attorney

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers announced today his appointment of Joshua Dryak to serve as Oconto County District Attorney. The appointment fills a vacancy created by former District Attorney Hannah Schuchart’s appointment to the Oconto County Circuit Court. Dryak will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term that ends January 2029.
“Joshua Dryak’s experience as a prosecutor and his commitment to serving the public will make him a great district attorney for the people of Oconto County,” said Gov. Evers.
Dryak is currently an assistant district attorney in the Outagamie County District Attorney’s Office. Dryak has previously worked in the Brown County and Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Offices and with the child welfare system in the Brown County Corporation Counsel’s Office. Since 2018, he has also served as a judge advocate in the United States Army Reserve, with active-duty experience as a special victims litigator and a deployment to Europe from 2023 to 2024. Since 2022, he’s also taught law enforcement cadets as an adjunct faculty member at Fox Valley Technical College.
“A strong partnership between law enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office is essential to ensuring justice, accountability, and public safety,” said Oconto County Sheriff Todd Skarban. “We are confident that District Attorney Dryak will be a valuable asset to our community, and we look forward to a productive and collaborative relationship working together to serve and protect the citizens of Oconto County.”
Dryak is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Marquette University Law School. He will be relocating to Oconto County to serve in this position.
